About Zack
Zack Howard grew up in Malibu, California, and began surfing at just three years old. By the age of 14, he had already won the United States Longboard Championship at First Point, Malibu. Two years later, at 16, he signed a professional sponsorship contract with Oxbow France and officially turned pro.
During the summers, Zack split his time between lifeguarding for the State of California and traveling the globe for surf competitions and photo shoots. His career took him to world-class surf destinations including Australia, New Zealand, Tahiti, Europe, South America, Indonesia, and South Africa.
At 19, Zack placed third in the 1999 Oxbow World Longboard Championships and appeared on the covers of multiple international surf magazines. He went on to enjoy a 15-year professional surfing career, consistently ranking in the top 10 worldwide for over a decade.
Zack’s career allowed him to experience different cultures and share his passion for surfing with others. He spent time in Europe teaching corporate executives how to ride waves and thrive in the ocean environment. In 2003, Zack relocated to Maui, drawn by the legendary waves at Jaws and Honolua Bay. In 2009, he founded Zack Howard Surf, dedicating himself to full-time instruction.
Today, Zack is passionate about creating authentic, high-quality surf experiences. He has hand-selected a team of professional instructors to deliver some of the best surf lessons in the world.
